Tour the Clinic

We're proud of our home away from home - make yourself a cup of coffee, watch a little TV, and don't hesitate to ask if there's anything we can do to make your pet feel safe in our space.

We offer separate species-specific wards for our dogs, cats, and exotic patients to reduce stress during their stay - including climate controlled incubators for our reptile and amphibian friends.  Any client is welcome to take a veterinary clinic tour - transparency in care is important for any pet parent.

    About Fear Free Hospital Design

Any methods of preventing stress only serve to benefit both client and patient - especially since pets feeling anxious may hide the symptoms that prompted the vet visit, and may even alter their test results.

In addition to separate, sound-reducing pet wards and incubators with high visibility windows for each species right in our treatment area, utilizing the Fear Free palette was one of the many design decisions we made to improve patient experience.  What do you wish your veterinarian did to reduce stress for your pet's visit?

A growing trend in selecting paint colors for a veterinary practice is to follow the "Fear-Free" design ideology, a template that outlines how to use your clinic's interior design to contribute to a low-stress environment for patients.

Sarah Babin presented an interesting thesis in Color Theory: The Effects of Color in Medical Environments, to assess how medical patients reacted to color and design choices in medical offices.  Architect Heather Lewis has worked to establish low-stress hospital design guidelines, which suggests light pastels as an ideal Fear Free palette.

It is a common misconception among pet owners is that dogs are colorblind. In reality, dogs have dichromatic vision and can see most of the range of colors humans can see. Though they can’t distinguish colors well in the green to orange range.

Feline color perception is different than dogs but does have similar characteristics. Cat's vision is trichromatic, but they can’t see colors with as much precision as humans do. They also discern the blue and violet end of the spectrum better than the red end.
